RDA Awarded Rawalpindi Ring Road Contract to FWO
Rawalpindi Development Authority RDA has awarded the Rawalpindi Ring Road project to Frontier Work Organization worth Rs22.8 billion. The FWO’s bid was 300 million less than the project’s estimated budget during the bidding process. In the presence of all concerned departments, the RDA opened the bidding process. Then, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza stated that FWO bade the lowest tender amount after the announcement of technical and financial bids.
Importance of Rawalpindi Ring Road construction
The Rawalpindi Ring Road is a highway that will link Islamabad and Rawalpindi. A projected highway connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi is the Rawalpindi Ring Road. There are three lanes, eight crossroads, and four service stations along the 65.3-kilometre road. Rawat and Sangjani will be connected by the Rawalpindi Ring Road, which will pass through Adyala and Bahria town. It also connects to other major highways, such as the Islamabad-Lahore and Islamabad-Peshawar highways. The Rawalpindi Ring Road isn’t your typical roadway. Current Status of the Rawalpindi Ring Road Project
Since the construction of the Ring Road, Rawalpindi was approved, it has faced many delays. According to the RDA report, the road had to be constructed in august of the previous year. Still, due to the lack of interest of the Punjab Government, the construction was repeatedly delayed. But now, the Rawalpindi Development Authority RDA assigned the construction project to the Frontier Work Organization FWO, and soon the project will be started.
