Gwadar Port is Generating Economic Activities of $10 Billion
This is a step towards the economic stability of Pakistan that the Gwadar Port is generating economic activities of $10 billion. CPEC chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa congratulated the nation on the operations of the Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone.
With the completion of the Gwadar Free zone, many manufacturing works and trading activities would take starting, and cargo will move, and trans-shipment activities will also rise.
He said they would look after and monitor all the development projects and work on the Gwadar until its completion. China Port Holding Company had completed the infrastructural work on the Port at the cost of $300 million and completed all four berths.
Under the Afghan Transit Trade Agreement, the Port was used for handling over 67000 metric tons of cargo.
A vessel was due at the Port on Tuesday, carrying 8000 cubic feet of liquefied petroleum gas. Another ship carrying 24000 metric tons of diammonium phosphate fertilizers and feed cargo would arrive here from Australia for Afghanistan. Bajwa said that a custom system would facilitate the investors and traders.
The full emphasis should be on increasing traffic on the Port. For this purpose, the authorities are pursuing the companies to establish their offices there.
The Gwadar Free Zone’s first phase is spreading over 60 acres of land and has 47 registered enterprises.

Six factories are under construction. Four have been completed in which three are fully operational. The Free zone and Port have given almost 1200 job opportunities, and 12000 persons were hired for building infrastructure.
Prime Minister Imran Khan would perform the innovation of the second phase of Gwadar Free Zone. It would spread over 2221 acres of land. the China Port Holding Company already dealt with investors for the second phase of the Gwadar Free Zone. It would need 1600 acres of land. Investors had invested $3 billion already which would give almost 30000 job opportunities.
The Eastbay Expressway would take the cargo directly from Port to m-8 for onward shipment to Karachi, and to the country. The work on Gwadar Airport is in sharp process. The city would also be developed by the establishment of technical and vocational institutes.
PM Imran Khan especially urged on creating more job opportunities. He also directed to facilitate the youth with technical skills. The master plan for Gwadar is in the implementation stage.
The development of the agriculture sector is the main focus of CPEC. He held a meeting with the agriculture community from Mirani and other areas of the province. China wants to form the first agriculture model farm in Balochistan. They are ready to sign the agreement of 32500 acres of land. There is also that kind of model farms in KP and Sindh.
