Ehsaas initiative gives scholarships to KIU students

The Ehsaas Initiative Program has given scholarships to around 1,260 undergraduate students from various fields at Karakoram International University (KIU), bringing the total number of students to 2,400.

KIU Vice-Chancellor Dr Attaullah Shah told a press conference here on Friday that 1,269 students from various disciplines have applied for the scholarship scheme this year. the university had promised that just 200 candidates would be selected for the scholarships. then the students asked for scholarships.

The institution had informed the GB government and President Arif Alvi, who is also the chancellor of the KIU, that because of the Covid-19 pandemic, poor residents in the region were unable to pay their children’s fees.

The president had given special orders to award scholarships to all of KIU’s students who had applied. In addition, he stated that 66 undergraduate students received HEC need-based scholarships this year.

According to the vice-chancellor, the initiative offered scholarships to 911 KIU students last year. This year, Rs35 million will be allocated across several disciplines to assist students in meeting their expenses for fees and book purchases,

The government of the GB had also offered to give the students Rs4 million to help them pay their due fees. the Ehsaas initiative is helping poor students to continue their journey of getting higher education. It is the dream of Prime minister Imran khan to make the youngster facilitated with every facility that developed countries provide to their youngsters. Ehsaas initiative is one of them.
